Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa has criticized Israel’s military actions in Syria, questioning whether they can bring security to Israeli citizens.
Al-Sharaa said Israel has twice struck the Syrian presidential palace and has also carried out attacks against Syrian airports.
“Israel has bombed the Syrian presidential palace twice and has also bombed our airports. Does this bring security to Israeli citizens?” al-Sharaa said.
He pointed to Syria’s relations with other countries as evidence that Damascus can establish successful diplomatic ties.
“Look at our relations with the United States, the United Kingdom and Lebanon. Those relationships have succeeded,” he said.
Al-Sharaa argued that the ongoing tensions are rooted in Israel’s approach rather than Syria’s, saying: “We believe that the problem lies on the Israeli side, not on the Syrian side.”
