Teacher janet’s coffin reportedly refused burial until questions over her death were addressed
FONDLY known as Teacher Janet by her community in 10 Miles, Janet is said to have complained of pain in her leg before she died the same week, on Friday.
Following her death, community sources say the primary school teacher was scheduled to be buried on Wednesday morning after a funeral Mass.
However, after the Mass, her remains were reportedly taken back to the community, where an elderly man, said to be an uncle, was linked to allegations surrounding her death.
Sources say the man was put on the spot to explain the role he may have played in Janet’s sudden death, but reportedly struggled to find the words to respond.
As tensions rose, Police officers were reportedly deployed to the area to control the situation.
According to the sources, there was initially resistance from some community members when the officers arrived. Tear gas was subsequently discharged, causing the crowd to temporarily disperse.
Shortly afterwards, however, people reportedly gathered again to witness what became a tense moment, as officers fearlessly carried Janet’s casket and proceeded with the burial in the presence of authorities.
The circumstances surrounding the incident have since left the community asking questions, particularly over claims that Janet’s coffin had, in a manner some describe as unusual, refused to proceed with the burial until questions surrounding her death were addressed.
To some, such an occurrence is a matter of superstition; to others, it is a deeply unsettling mystery.
But one question remains: how true is the belief that a coffin carrying someone who was allegedly taken away unjustly can somehow seek justice before burial?
Whatever the truth may be, Janet has been laid to rest.
