TELEVISE MUNDUBILE’S TREASON TRIAL, SIKOTA URGES STATE.

State Counsel Sakwiba Sikota has urged the State to allow the trial of Brian Mundubile in the treason case to be televised live.

Mr. Sikota, who is part of Mr. Mundubile’s defence team, says Zambians should be given an opportunity to follow the proceedings so that they can see that the country upholds the rule of law.

He says the case is a high-profile matter that many Zambians are interested in following.

Mr. Sikota believes that allowing the proceedings to be televised could also help reduce the number of political cadres gathering at the courts.

“As the defence lawyers for the accused, we are ready to commence anytime when the State is ready. Our request, however, is that this trial is televised live on TV. It cannot be ZNBC, but the media can be given access to televise the proceedings live,” he said.
