THABO KAWANA DEFENDS PRESIDENT HICHILEMA’S RETURN TO PREVIOUSLY VISITED PROVINCES FOR CAMPAIGNS

Ministry of Information and Media Permanent Secretary Thabo Kawana says there is nothing wrong with President Hakainde Hichilema returning to provinces where he has already campaigned.

Mr. Kawana said the president is following a campaign schedule prepared by his campaign team to ensure he visits all districts he did not visit in his previous tours.

He further stated that concerns over the president’s return to previously visited provinces are misplaced because stakeholders agreed during the development of the campaign timetable that the head of state would be exempt from the schedule.

Mr. Kawana has told Phoenix News that this arrangement allows the president to campaign wherever necessary without being restricted by the timetable.

He was responding to complaints by the opposition that the president’s decision to return to the Copperbelt province for a second round of campaigns was creating an unfair campaign environment and could fuel scheduling conflicts with rival parties.
