‘The Middle East Has Changed, and So Has Iran’- Netanyahu
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the regional balance of power has shifted significantly, arguing that Iran has been severely weakened following recent confrontations.
Speaking about Israel’s security posture, Netanyahu stated that “the Middle East is no longer the same” and claimed that “Iran is no longer the same,” asserting that Tehran had been hit hard in recent months.
While acknowledging that Iran still retains military capabilities, Netanyahu pointed to what he described as a lack of recent direct attacks against Israel.
“They still have capabilities, but look at the last month they haven’t fired at us,” Netanyahu said.
According to the Israeli prime minister, the absence of attacks reflects Iran’s awareness of Israel’s military deterrence.
“Why haven’t they fired? Because they know we can strike them hard enough to deter them,” he said, adding that if Iran were to attack Israel, it would face a very powerful response.
Netanyahu’s remarks come amid continued regional tensions and ongoing concerns over the possibility of renewed escalation between Israel and Iran, despite periods of relative calm. His comments underscore Israel’s position that maintaining a strong deterrent is central to preventing future attacks.
