There is no comeback because the wounds were too much, Sinda CCJP tells PF

SINDA Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace (CCJP) coordinator Bodmass Banda says what happened in America to reelect former president Donald Trump might not happen in Zambia because of the wounds the PF under Edgar Lungu left.

In interview, Banda congratulated the American President-elect and believed the good relations between the two countries will continue.

“We expect a continuation of good relations with Zambia because change of leadership shouldn’t sour the relationship of the two countries. When you leave office peacefully without leaving problems there could be no problem of people bringing you back, but if there are a lot of things, it becomes very difficult,” he said. “Maybe it can happen but the way we see, there is no comeback because the wounds were too much, but now peace has been restored under the current regime. The first term of PF things were okay but second term people suffered. And I don’t think anybody can decide to go back where we came from at this time. If we think in that way, then we don’t think properly.”

He explained that under PF one could see youths taking liquor in bus stations, government offices were only for those aligned to the party of that.

Banda said the UPND cannot do everything right but that what they should do is to focus on what they planned to do for the people.

“They can’t do everything right. My advice to UPND is that they should not lose their focus, they should go ahead in the plan they had planned to rule the country. We know there is hunger but government has introduced this programme called cash for work so that after one is given ka something they are able to choose what to buy for them to eat as a family. But in those years mealie meal was going to the homes of district commissioners, members of parliament; and if the DC is from Lundazi mealie meal could go to his parents and relatives. But this time around money is given to the people to buy what they want,” said Banda. “One can buy from FRA or buy mealie meal from the shops or if not, one can buy potatoes because this time around we choose what to eat compared to that time under the previous regime.”
