“They have revealed how Devilish they are, we are not afraid.” – Prince Akashambatwa Mbikusita-Lewanika  speaks after being teargassed

Veteran politician Prince Akashambatwa Mbikusita-Lewanika spoke to the media after he was tear-gassed while campaigning for opposition candidate Brian Mundubile in Mongu, and used his first remarks afterward to say it only strengthened his resolve.

“When the tear gas got into my eyes, I felt that it was a confirmation that we were right to speak against this government,” he said. “I’m quite happy that they have revealed how devilish they are, and we are not afraid.”

Akashambatwa, co-chair of the Council of Elders backing Mundubile and running mate Makebi Zulu, called on Zambians to hold firm in the final stretch of the campaign. “We have less than ten days to use our powers to remove a government which has nakedly shown us to be a bad government,” he said.

President Hichilema has repeatedly condemned political violence during the campaign, saying the law “is blind to party colours.”

  1. Show us a swollen face kaili. Tear-gassed but no swollen face, was it really serious or did it even touch you? That’s not what we saw with Sata, HH and the First Lady. Before even narrating the story, you could on your own tell that the person was tear-gassed. PF had no peer when it came to violence. Are they not the ones who ransacked Community House, beat the workers and tear-gassed the family? I know you have already forgotten. HH had to leave a radio station through the roof, he had to leave Luapula through a bush road. So whatever you can say about UPND, to us citizens, it’s far much better than PF disguised as Tonse.

  2. Where are these dinosaurs resurrecting from? They had their time and should remain extinct as “times they’re changing” When I see certain faces reappearing in campaigns its for their personal interests rather than the overall good of the country! The country knows where the likes of Akashambatwa stand ready to be serve in any governing administration or pretend to be advisory on regional governance issues while being separatists and believing “entitled.” When things start working against some certain groups what we see is such groups banding together to wrestle power and milk the country for to them its the country owing them something!
