TI-Z FLAGS PROCESS IRREGULARITIES IN 7 OF 53 PRESIDENTIAL RESULTS
Transparency International Zambia says it has assessed 53 constituency presidential election results out of the 105 results announced so far by the Electoral Commission of Zambia.
TI-Z says its assessment produced a 96.9% Integrity Index, after accounting for process incidents observed during counting at polling stations and totalling centres.
Although the organisation says there were no discrepancies between the results announced by ECZ and those collected by its monitors, it has flagged seven constituencies because of process-related incidents.
The incidents include the transportation of unsealed ballot boxes to some totalling centres, delays in announcing completed results while awaiting approval from ECZ officials in Lusaka, and the failure to publish or allow the capturing of GEN 20 forms at some totalling centres.
TI-Z says the highest number of process incidents were recorded in Ndola Central and Kabushi, followed by Kasama Central, Chadiza East, Chembe and Dag Hammarskjöld constituencies.
The organisation says it has expanded its Integrity Index to include process incidents because of the high number of such cases, even where the actual vote computations remain consistent.
TI-Z says it will continue applying the process-weighted Integrity Index to results from other constituencies and publish its findings as the assessment progresses.
