TIME HAS COME TO RETIRE A PRESIDENT GOVERNING FROM HOME,” SAYS EFF’S KASONDE MWENDA.
Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Zambia President Kasonde Mwenda has called on Zambians to vote for change, saying the country needs a leader who will govern from State House rather than from a private residence.
Speaking in a video circulating online, Mr. Mwenda criticized President Hakainde Hichilema’s leadership, alleging that his administration has divided the country and that it is time for a new direction.
He threw his support behind Toonse Pamodzi Alliance presidential candidate Brian Mundubile, describing him as a unifying leader capable of bringing the country together.
“Zambia, the time has come for us to retire a President who has been governing from home. It is time to bring in a competent person who will govern from State House,” Mr. Mwenda said.
He added: “Brian Mundubile is the right person to unite the country. Just look at the picture—he is even waving goodbye. Let him go and rest as we bring in a new person for a fresh start.”
Meanwhile, there have been claims that the Toonse Pamodzi Alliance has engaged multiple bloggers to prematurely announce unconfirmed election results in an attempt to create the impression of victory before official results are declared.
Authorities have warned that anyone found spreading false or misleading election information that could incite violence or public disorder may face legal action in accordance with Zambia’s electoral and public order laws.
