Toll fees are too high, we’ll reduce them – promises Mundubile
NRPUP presidential candidate Brian Mundubile says his government will reduce toll fees if elected, arguing that the current charges are placing an excessive burden on the transport sector.
Speaking during a campaign rally in Kitwe’s Chamboli, Mundubile said high toll fees are making it difficult for transporters and self-employed truck drivers to operate profitably, and pledged to review the charges downwards.
“Toll fees are too high. Because of this, transporters and self-employed truck drivers are suffering. We are going to review and reduce the toll fees so that things can improve,” he said.
Mundubile further promised to extend the sectoral minimum wage to workers in the transport industry, saying truck drivers, bus drivers, taxi drivers and Yango drivers would all be covered under the policy.
“The sectoral minimum wage will apply to the transport sector too. Truck drivers, bus drivers, taxi drivers and Yango drivers are all covered under the sectoral minimum wage, and we will not forget you,” he said.
