TOONSE TO HOLD VIRTUAL RALLIES IN SOUTHERN PROVINCE TO AVOID VIOLENCE, BOOING – CHRIS ZUMANI ZIMBA.
Toonse Pamodzi Alliance Secretary General Chris Zumani Zimba says the alliance has resolved to conduct virtual campaign rallies in Southern Province to avoid what he described as possible violence and booing.
Posting on his official Facebook page, Dr. Zimba said the party had assessed the political environment and decided that virtual campaigns would be the safest option for its supporters and leaders.
He claimed that the alliance was confident of victory in the upcoming general elections and would instead focus on mobilising supporters to vote.
Dr. Zimba further alleged that Toonse Pamodzi Alliance presidential candidate Brian Mundubile had faced harassment during recent campaign activities.
“Going forward, we will just have virtual rallies to avoid booing and violence. Brian Mundubile was harassed by police in Chipata and now in Mongu he was tear-gassed. So we feel Southern Province will be worse. Instead, we will have virtual rallies going forward,” he said.
He urged party supporters to prepare for voting day, expressing confidence that Mr. Mundubile would emerge victorious.
“We are confident in our candidate. He has presented a clear plan for what he wants to do for the country, and many people relate to and appreciate it. We believe there is no way we will lose these elections,” Dr. Zimba said.
