TRAGEDY STRIKES AS 14 YEAR OLD BOY LOSES BOTH HANDS IN HORRIFIC DOG ATTACK
In the crowded, bustling community of Chipata Compound, a young boy’s life has been forever changed in the most brutal way. At only 14, he has lost both hands and suffered severe injuries to his legs after being attacked by dogs reportedly owned by a local businessman. This incident, which took place on January 11, 2024, has left a family shattered and a community grappling with pain and outrage.
The young boy, whose dreams of a normal childhood have now been replaced by unimaginable trauma, was reportedly attacked over suspicions of stealing side mirrors from the businessman’s car. These suspicions alone, according to neighbors and witnesses, led to an unthinkable assault as the dogs were allegedly unleashed upon him. In a matter of moments, his life transformed from youthful innocence to agonizing survival.
What’s even more shocking is the initial response from the businessman. Rather than an offer of genuine remorse or assistance, the mother of the boy—already a widow struggling to provide for her family—was reportedly offered a mere 25kg bag of mealie meal as compensation. A single bag, to soothe the suffering and loss that no amount of money could heal.
When the local police dismissed the case, it seemed that justice would be denied to this boy and his family. The boy himself was hidden away, his pain silenced as if his trauma was too inconvenient to confront.
But in the face of tragedy, the community rallied together. Crowd Intelligence Services (CIS), an organization known for uncovering hard truths, took up the case, fueled by the determination of concerned citizens who refused to let this incident be forgotten. Through their investigation, heartbreaking photos and videos surfaced, images that left no question about the brutality of the attack. The evidence, according to CIS, pointed toward a calculated, deliberate assault.
With their findings, CIS urged authorities to act. And finally, they did. Two businessmen have now been detained, facing questions and the weight of the community’s calls for justice. In a phone interview, CIS Chief Inspector Kwibisa B Muwana expressed the community’s collective relief, stating that steps were now being taken to ensure justice for this boy.
