Trump Assures Aide Margo Martin She Has Nothing to Fear: Preemptive Pardons on the Table to Stop Democrat Lawfare
President Trump just made it clear he is open to shielding his own staff from the kind of political prosecutions that defined the last administration. When a reporter asked about a Washington Sun report that the White House is considering mass pardons for junior officials, Trump said he had not yet focused on the idea but would not hesitate if Democrats try to weaponize the justice system again.
“Well, I haven’t thought of it, but I will tell you it would be very unfair to go through what we went through for four years with the corrupt weaponization that took place,” Trump said. “So, in light of what Biden did, as you know, Biden shielded many people, including the Congress. If you look at what they did with Congress when they set up the special committee, which was a fraud, they all got shielded. So certainly, I haven’t thought about it, but certainly I’d be allowed to. The presidential pardons are, they say, the most powerful thing a president has.”
He then turned to his own aide standing nearby and left no doubt about his intentions.
“I certainly don’t want to see innocent people go through hell and lose all their money, like Margo. Lose all their money, because if she becomes a target, you know she’s a very honest person, but they’re going to drag her into a grand jury. She’s standing right there. Margo, you’re not going to have to worry about it, okay?”-DTP
