Trump fumes over Nobel Peace Prize snub, claims he ended eight wars

U.S. President Donald Trump has renewed his criticism of the Nobel Peace Prize committee after South African jurist Navi Pillay was named the 2026 laureate, insisting that his own record deserved the award.

In a Truth Social post, Trump claimed he had ended eight wars and was close to resolving or winning two more, including the conflicts involving Iran and Russia’s war against Ukraine. He also cited the release of Israeli hostages and efforts to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons as achievements deserving international recognition.

Trump called the decision an “indelible stain on Norway” and argued that the Nobel Peace Prize had been discredited by what he described as radical ideological influence.

Pillay, a former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and international judge, received the award for her work promoting peace and international law, including efforts to hold perpetrators of war crimes and other serious international crimes accountable.

Trump’s claims about ending eight wars remain disputed, as several of the conflicts he cites have not been fully resolved. His latest remarks have renewed debate over his foreign policy record and his repeated campaign for the prestigious peace award.
