Trump just said he’ll REOPEN his $1.8 BILLION slush fund for January 6 rioters unless two more Republican senators confirm his attorney general.

Saturday morning on Truth Social, Trump wrote that if Sens. John Cornyn and Thom Tillis “aren’t going to approve Todd Blanche,” he would keep Blanche as acting attorney general and “push hard to get the Anti-Weaponization Bill…PASSED.” He added: “It will immediately be back on the table, and I will get it done.” The two senators, he wrote, were “upset because I wouldn’t Endorse them (they lost, and quit, respectively!).”

Less than 24 hours before that, at a Cabinet meeting at Camp David on Friday, a reporter asked Trump why he wouldn’t put the end of the fund in writing. “Well, it is dead, but you know I wish it weren’t, to be honest with you,” he said. “I think people were horribly treated, horribly abused … and I’d like to see them compensated for the pain.”

The fund would hand nearly $1.8 billion in public money to people who say the government was weaponized against them, premised on claims from January 6 and Trump’s classified documents case. It was created out of a settlement of Trump’s own lawsuit against the IRS over the leak of his tax returns. That same deal shielded him, his sons and his businesses from audits, with Blanche signing a memo to “forever bar and preclude” any action on Trump’s past tax returns, a protection worth more than $100 million in potential tax penalties.

A federal judge, Kathleen Williams, voided the settlement this month in a 56-page order, finding the lawsuit was brought in “bad faith” to “manipulate the judicial process.”

She sanctioned Trump’s lawyers, referred Blanche to his bar association, and barred the government from citing the agreement in any official proceeding. Trump’s attorneys just filed an appeal.
