Trump wrote: “I am pleased to announce that the Great Dana White, a violent Fighter and Warrior, has been offered the job of Press Secretary of the United States. I have requested that he bring with him assistants, even though some are not from our Country, of Islam Makhachev, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, Daniel Cormier, Amanda Nunes, and Kayla Harris. We need these people to defend us against the Lunatic Left. Dana will be a Press Secretary like none other. Dana, please take the job!”
This comes days after Republicans took a beating in the midterms and after the press secretary chair has seen constant turnover. The last person in the role lasted only a handful of days. Trump is done with the usual DC communicators who fold under pressure. White has been loyal for decades, starting from the early days when Trump helped the UFC when few others would. He has stood with the president through every cycle and knows how to handle hostile rooms.
White has not issued a formal acceptance, but reports say he posted on Instagram with an image and the line “On to the next chapter.” Whether he takes it or not, the message is loud. Trump wants people who fight instead of people who manage narratives for the press corps. The suggestion of bringing actual combat athletes as assistants is classic Trump—direct, aggressive, and aimed straight at the people who have spent years attacking his administration.
