TRUMP PRIVATELY ADMITS THE WAR IS KILLING HIS MIDTERMS
Trump knows.
In private, he admits the Iran war is hurting Republicans. He knows it is dragging down his poll numbers. He knows voters are angry.
But in public, he defends the war. He promises to “fight like hell until Election Day.”
Two Trumps. One reality.
The reality is this. Diesel is above 6 dollars a gallon. His approval is at a record low. Republicans are scared. The war he said would last four weeks is in its seventh month.
Iran knows it. Iran is holding the Strait of Hormuz closed. Every day it stays shut, Trump’s problems get worse. Every day it stays shut, his approval drops. Every day it stays shut, the midterms get harder.
Iran is not fighting a war on the ground anymore. It is fighting an economic war against Trump’s political survival.
Trump is trapped. He cannot end the war. Iran will not open the strait without conditions he cannot meet. He cannot win it. The country has already lost its missiles, its drones, its patience.
So he is doing what he always does. He is lying.
He says the war is going well. He says Iran is dead. He says the economy is strong. He says he will win the midterms.
His own party knows he is wrong. His own pollsters know he is wrong. He knows he is wrong.
What happens when a president privately admits he is losing while publicly promising victory, and the voters are the ones paying the price.
