Trump Says He Could Ask Erdogan to Join an Operation Against Yemen’s Houthis
U.S. President Donald Trump said he could ask Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to participate in an operation against Yemen’s Houthi movement, describing Erdogan as one of his closest friends.
Asked by a journalist whether he would request Turkey’s involvement in an operation against the Houthis, Trump responded that he could make such a request to Erdogan.
“I can ask Erdogan, who is one of my closest friends, and I think Erdogan would do anything I ask him to do. I have great respect for him,” Trump said.
His remarks highlight his close relationship with the Turkish president, although he did not confirm that Turkey had been formally asked to participate in any military operation against the Houthis.
