Trump says Iran wants deal but is ‘not ready’ – Fox News
US President Donald Trump said Thursday that Iran wants to make a deal with Washington but is “not ready,” in an interview with Fox News.
“Iran wants to make a deal. They’re not ready, in my opinion,” Trump said. “They’re going to either make a deal that’s good, or we’re not going to make a deal at all.”
Trump said US strikes involving B-2 bombers had ended Iran’s capability to move toward a nuclear weapon and said Tehran would otherwise now possess one.
“They’re considered the most evil country right now in the world,” Trump said.
He also described Iran as being in a “very weak state” and said its economy was at its worst level, citing inflation above 300 percent and saying soldiers, military personnel and police were not being paid.
“We control the Hormuz Strait. We control it strongly,” Trump said, adding that US forces were taking out ships at night after destroying Iran’s radar capabilities.
Asked whether he anticipated further military deployments or hoped a deal could be reached, Trump said: “I think we’ll end up winning. I don’t know about through a deal, but we’re already winning.”
In another interview with Axios on Thursday, Trump said he had a “big decision” coming up over whether to resume large-scale attacks on Iran.
