TRUMP THREATENED TO BOMB THE COUNTRY HELPING HIM MAKE A DEAL
Oman has been one of the most important mediators between America and Iran for decades.
Secret back-channel negotiations. Quiet diplomacy. A country that both Washington and Tehran trust enough to carry messages neither side wants to deliver directly.
Trump just threatened to bomb it.
His demand is that Iran surrender control of the Strait of Hormuz. Oman, which sits at the entrance of that same strait and has its own complex relationship with both Iran and America, apparently said or did something that slowed that process.
Trump’s response was to threaten the mediator.
This is the diplomatic equivalent of threatening your lawyer mid-trial because you do not like how the negotiation is going.
Oman has survived centuries of regional politics by being the one country everyone talks to. It survived British colonialism, Arab nationalism, Iranian revolution, Gulf wars, and multiple American foreign policy swings. It maintained relations with Israel before most Arab countries. It kept back channels open with Iran through maximum pressure campaigns.
Oman does not scare easily.
But the message Trump sent to every neutral country watching is clear. If you slow down what America wants, you become a target. Neutrality has an expiry date when Washington is impatient.
Pakistan is mediating. Oman is mediating. Qatar is hosting talks. All of them are now watching Trump threaten one of their own.
