Trump Warns He May Have to “Destroy the Rest” of Iran

US President Donald Trump has warned that the United States may have to destroy more of Iran as Washington considers whether to launch further military action against Tehran.

Speaking to reporters at the White House on November 5, Trump said he would prefer not to destroy the rest of Iran, but added that he may have no choice.

“I would rather not destroy the rest of the country, if possible, but maybe I’ll have to. And you’ll know soon enough,” Trump said.

Trump said Washington would decide whether to go further with military operations against Iran, arguing that the objective would be to ensure Iran’s nuclear program could never threaten the United States again.

The remarks came amid continued diplomatic efforts over Iran’s nuclear program, while US forces remain prepared for a possible return to major military operations.

Trump also said Iran would not be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon and claimed Tehran could not take action on its nuclear program without US approval.

No decision to launch a new large-scale US attack on Iran had been publicly announced at the time of his remarks.
