TRUMP WEIGHS ENDING IRAN WAR AS RETALIATION ESCALATES
The Wall Street Journal reports that Donald Trump is holding private discussions with senior aides about declaring an end to the war on Iran.
The talks come as Iran launches waves of retaliatory strikes across the region. Tehran says its forces have targeted US bases in Jordan, Iraq, Bahrain, and the UAE with missiles and drones.
The trigger was a US strike on a wedding ceremony in southern Iran. Iranian officials say at least five civilians were killed and dozens wounded.
Trump has privately told aides he is willing to walk away without a nuclear deal. His condition: the Strait of Hormuz must reopen to international shipping.
But Iran is not backing down. The IRGC says the strait will not reopen until the US corrects its behaviour and lifts all sanctions.
The war Trump said would last four to six weeks is now in its seventh month.
Trump is looking for an exit. Iran is demanding conditions. Civilians are dying.
