For those who have followed Dr Vernon Mwanga’s journey over the years, the story of his relationship with the late Congolese music icon Tsala Muana is one that many people still remember.



The two were once one of the most talked-about couples. Their relationship went beyond borders, with Tsala Muana often travelling to Zambia to spend time with the man she loved.



At the time, both were stars in their own worlds. Vernon Mwanga was building his name in politics, while Tsala Muana was already a celebrated musician with fans across Africa



For those who may not know Tsala Muana, she was one of the biggest music stars to come out of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Known as the Queen of Mutuashi, she was famous for her catchy performances, traditional dance style and a stage presence that could keep audiences entertained for hours.



Anyone who has watched a Congolese music performance knows the energy is unmatched. The music, the dancing and the atmosphere are enough to make you forget about going home.



Tsala Muana was a woman many admired. She had fame, beauty and many people who looked up to her, but according to the story shared over the years, her heart was with Dr Mwanga. Many believed their relationship was heading towards marriage.



But behind the beautiful moments and public appearances, there was one question that remained unanswered, would the two eventually become husband and wife?



Years later, Dr Vernon Mwanga finally opened up about why that never happened.

Speaking on the Kenny T 1 on 1 Podcast, he revealed that although Tsala Muana wanted them to get married, he could not make that commitment because she was a musician while he was a politician. According to Dr Mwanga, their different career paths and the demands that came with them played a role in the decision.
