Duane “Keffe D” Davis, who was convicted in connection with the 1996 killing of rapper Tupac Shakur, accumulated a series of alleged disciplinary violations while being held at the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas before his murder trial.
Records obtained by TMZ detail incidents involving fights, threats, verbal abuse and other alleged rule violations dating from Davis’ arrest on September 29, 2023, through the start of his trial.
According to the records, Davis was involved in a fight with another inmate in December 2025 while being escorted back to his cell following a visit. The documents state that Davis and the other inmate engaged in mutual combat in a dayroom, grappling and exchanging punches before a corrections officer used pepper spray to stop the fight. Other officers later arrived and separated the pair.
Another incident was recorded in March 2024, when Davis allegedly became involved in an argument with a corrections officer over when he would be allowed to leave his cell for recreational time. According to the documents, Davis told the officer: “Who do you think you are talking to? I have been doing this s—t since before you were born.”
The officer reportedly informed Davis that he had lost his recreational time for the day and instructed him to return to his cell. The argument allegedly continued, with Davis accused of threatening to fight the officer and punch him in the “f—ing face.”
The records indicate that Davis was later taken to disciplinary housing over several alleged violations, including refusing to obey a direct order and threatening another person with physical harm. In another incident in August 2024, Davis allegedly became angry over the time he was permitted to leave his cell because he had been unable to make a telephone call to someone he hoped could assist with his bail.
The documents allege that Davis repeatedly called two corrections officers a “piece of s***” before asking them to “have a heart.” He later returned to his cell while continuing to complain and allegedly kicked the cell door. Officers subsequently placed him on lockdown for 24 hours over the verbal abuse, according to the records.
A separate August incident involved officers attempting to remove one of two mattresses from Davis’ cell after determining that he was not authorised to have a second mattress. Davis allegedly shouted, “This is some bulls***!” as officers removed the mattress.
The records state that a struggle then occurred between Davis and the officers, after which he was handcuffed. One officer allegedly suffered a scratch to his knuckle during the confrontation. Davis was also cited for other minor alleged violations, including passing a commissary note to another inmate. A Las Vegas jury convicted Davis last month of murder in connection with Shakur’s 1996 death in a drive-by shooting.
Prosecutors argued that Davis handed the murder weapon to another person inside the vehicle involved in the shooting and that the gunman then shot Shakur after the rapper had assaulted Davis’ nephew. Davis is scheduled to be sentenced on October 13.
