TÜRKIYE’S SYRIA STRATEGY COULD CREATE A NEW PROBLEM FOR ISRAEL
Türkiye has continued supplying weapons, military equipment, training, and logistical support to Syria’s post-Assad interim government through defense cooperation agreements.
But what is Ankara’s bigger objective?
Is Türkiye trying to strengthen Syria in a way that could keep Israel locked into a prolonged regional conflict potentially involving Hamas without Türkiye having to confront Israel directly?
This does not mean Türkiye has declared war on Israel or that such a strategy has been proven.
But if Syria becomes significantly more militarily capable under Turkish support, the strategic consequences for Israel could be enormous.
Is this defense cooperation or the beginning of a much bigger regional chess game?
