U.S. Envoys Witkoff and Kushner Arrive in Kyiv for Peace Talks
U.S. special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner arrived in Kyiv on Sunday to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, following more than three hours of talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow the previous day.
The visit marks the first time the two U.S. envoys have traveled to Kyiv in their current negotiating roles, as Washington renews efforts to bring an end to the Russia-Ukraine war.
Zelenskyy said Ukraine is ready for constructive dialogue and wants to move toward peace, while stressing the need for security guarantees and a just and sustainable postwar settlement.
The Moscow meeting produced no announced breakthrough, but U.S. officials said substantive plans for the next steps were discussed and could be announced in the coming weeks.
The Kyiv talks are expected to focus on possible pathways toward ending the war and narrowing differences between Ukraine and Russia.
