UAE Accelerates Efforts to Restore Ties with Iran, Financial Times Reports
The United Arab Emirates has reportedly accelerated plans to strengthen its diplomatic and economic relationship with Iran. According to a report published today by the Financial Times, maritime trade between Dubai’s ports and Iran has resumed, while direct commercial flights between the two countries have also restarted.
The report adds that the UAE government has approved the return of thousands of Iranian nationals who had been living in the Emirates but left following the recent conflict.
According to the Financial Times, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has tasked senior officials, including National Security Adviser Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed, with leading efforts to rebuild relations with Iran.
