UBZ PRESIDENT SOONDO ENDORSES HH, CITES STABILITY AND DEVELOPMENT
OPPOSITION United for Better Zambia (UBZ) President Apostle Hector Soondo has endorsed President Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND ahead of the August 13 general election, saying the decision was made in the national interest.
Speaking in Lusaka alongside UBZ Secretary General Malesu, Apostle Soondo said the party had carefully assessed the country’s political direction before backing President Hichilema for a second term.
“After careful consideration, consultations and reflection, we have resolved to support President Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND because we believe the interest of Zambia must come before individual political ambitions,” Apostle Soondo said.
He said Zambia needed stability, continuity and consistent leadership to sustain economic recovery, attract investment, strengthen agriculture and implement long-term development programmes.
“The rebuilding of a nation requires patience and stability. Zambia needs leadership that can continue working on programmes aimed at improving the economy and creating opportunities for citizens,” he said.
Apostle Soondo also urged Zambians to maintain peace during the election period, saying political differences should not divide the country.
Meanwhile, Malesu said the endorsement reflected UBZ’s commitment to national unity, economic growth and improved living standards for all citizens.
