Veteran Ugandan politician and Adjumani West MP Gen. (Rtd) Moses Ali has passed away at the age of 87. According to an official announcement by President Yoweri Museveni, he died at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala.

Military Career: He trained in Israel and the UK, joining the Uganda Army in 1968. He was promoted to a four-star general in the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF).

Political Shifts: He originally served as a minister under Idi Amin’s regime, later led the Uganda National Rescue Front (UNRF) rebel group, and eventually signed a peace agreement with Museveni in 1986.



Government Roles: He held multiple high-ranking Cabinet posts, including First, Second, and Third Deputy Prime Minister. He left the Cabinet role in May 2026.



Parliamentary Service: He served as the Member of Parliament for the Adjumani West Constituency starting in 1996 and was re-elected for a 7th term during the January 2026 general elections.
