UK Says It Is Ready To Defend Itself After Iran Threatens ‘Consequences’ Over US Base Access

The war of words between the UK and Iran has just become a lot louder.

Britain says it is fully prepared to defend itself after Iran warned there would be “consequences” for allowing the United States to use British military bases during recent strikes on Iranian targets.

Iran accused the UK of taking part in what it called an act of aggression, arguing that countries helping US military operations should expect a response. The warning came after reports that the new UK government authorized the US to use British military facilities as part of its military campaign.

The UK has pushed back firmly. Defence officials say Britain’s armed forces are always ready to protect the country and its interests, while insisting the UK does not want a wider war in the Middle East.

The exchange adds another layer of tension to an already volatile conflict, raising fresh concerns that more countries could be pulled into the crisis if hostilities continue to escalate.

With warnings flying as fast as missiles, the world will be watching closely to see whether this remains a war of words or turns into something much bigger.

Could diplomacy still cool the temperature before another front opens?
