UK TO BAN GOODS FROM ISRAELI SETTLEMENTS IN THE WEST BANK

The United Kingdom is expected to suspend the import of goods produced in Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank, according to The New York Times, as European pressure over Israel’s settlement policy continues to grow.

Spain, Belgium, Ireland and the Netherlands have already moved to restrict or ban products originating from Israeli settlements. The issue is also being debated within the European Union, where a growing number of governments are calling for stronger measures against settlement-produced goods.

Israel has significantly expanded settlement activity in the occupied West Bank, while Palestinian officials and rights groups accuse Israeli settlers of forcibly taking over Palestinian farmland and expanding into additional areas.

The developments come amid the continuing Gaza war and growing international pressure on Israel over its policies toward the Palestinians and the future of the occupied territories.
