UK to Provide Military Support to Saudi Arabia
The United Kingdom has confirmed that it will deploy a Royal Air Force (RAF) Voyager aircraft to provide aerial refueling for Saudi fighter jets, following a formal request from Riyadh.
UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham said the support is “defensive” and temporary, aimed at helping Saudi Arabia defend against missile and drone attacks launched by Yemen’s Houthi movement.
The UK government stressed that the deployment is not intended to support offensive strikes against the Houthis, but rather to strengthen Saudi Arabia’s ability to respond to incoming threats.
The move comes amid heightened regional tensions and continued concerns over attacks targeting Saudi territory.
