UK Warns It Has Just Over 1,000 Days to Prepare for Potential War as Russia’s Military Power Grows
Britain has just over 1,000 days to strengthen its defences and prepare alongside NATO allies for the possibility that hostile states could be capable of attacking by 2030, UK Defence Secretary Wes Streeting has warned.
Streeting said the growing threat lies not only in adversaries’ intentions, but also in their expanding military strength and wartime economic capacity. His warning comes as concerns mount over Russia’s military buildup and its activities against Western countries
Meanwhile, the UK government has launched its “Be Ready” campaign, urging households to prepare for up to 72 hours of disruption to essential services during emergencies, including cyberattacks, severe weather or threats to critical infrastructure.
The guidance recommends keeping drinking water, non-perishable food, a radio, a torch, cash and essential medicines at home.
The warning does not mean a major war is certain by 2030. It underscores Britain’s push to strengthen national resilience and ensure it can respond alongside its allies if the security situation deteriorates.
