UKRAINE REJECTS IRAN’S STATEMENTS, ACCUSES TEHRAN OF ENABLING RUSSIA’S WAR

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has strongly criticized Iran, accusing Tehran of playing a direct role in Russia’s war against Ukraine by supplying weapons used in attacks since 2022.

In a statement, Sybiha said Iran’s recent threats were “unjustified and unfounded,” arguing that Tehran cannot claim victimhood while continuing to support Russia’s military campaign.

“The Tehran regime is directly complicit in the Russian aggression against Ukraine,” Sybiha said, adding that Iran has helped fuel Moscow’s war by providing weapons that have been used against Ukrainian targets.

He also rejected Iran’s references to the United Nations Charter, saying Tehran could not justify its position by invoking international law while allegedly supporting Russia’s invasion.

Iran has consistently acknowledged providing drones to Russia before the full-scale invasion but has denied supplying weapons for use in the war after it began. Russia has also denied using Iranian-supplied weapons in violation of international law.

Sybiha’s remarks underscore the continuing diplomatic tensions between Kyiv and Tehran as the war in Ukraine and broader regional disputes remain closely intertwined.
