Ukraine Strikes Russian Naval Base in Novorossiysk, Hitting Warships and Oil Infrastructure
Ukraine has launched a major long-range strike against Russian military and strategic infrastructure in Novorossiysk, Krasnodar Krai, targeting a key Russian naval base on the Black Sea.
Ukrainian officials said the overnight operation struck the Novorossiysk naval base, facilities inside the military harbor, an oil terminal used for loading crude, and Russian warships stationed in the port.
Ukraine’s military intelligence also reported that the Project 11356 frigate Admiral Essen, a Russian warship capable of carrying Kalibr cruise missiles, was hit during the operation.
The strike reportedly triggered fires in the port area, including at a fuel-oil terminal. Local Russian authorities acknowledged a fire but attributed it to falling drone debris, while Ukrainian sources said critical port and military infrastructure had been struck.
The operation involved multiple Ukrainian security and military branches, including the Security Service of Ukraine, Unmanned Systems Forces, Ukrainian Navy, Defense Intelligence and Border Guard Service, according to Kyiv.
The strike represents a continued Ukrainian effort to extend long-range attacks deep inside Russia, targeting naval assets, missile carriers and energy infrastructure used to support Moscow’s war effort.
The situation remains highly fluid. The full extent of damage to the naval base, warships and oil facilities has not yet been independently verified.
