UNITED STATES COMMENDS ZAMBIA FOR PEACEFUL ELECTIONS AND PLEDGES MILITARY SUPPORT

The United State of America (USA) has commended Zambia for conducting successful and peaceful elections on August 13, 2026.
Speaking during a courtesy call at the Ministry of Defence, Executive Director to the Deputy Under Secretary of the United States Air Force for International Affairs, Eugene Park, stated that the U.S. government is proud of the Zambian people.
Park highlighted that Zambia is a priority country for the United States, noting over 60 years of bilateral relations and readiness to support the modernization of the Zambian military.
He further praised Zambia for its leadership in international military engagements, specifically highlighting the country’s hosting of the Africa Land Forces Summit in 2024 and the African Air Chiefs Symposium in 2026.
In response, Ministry of Defence Acting Permanent Secretary Milicent Mwenda noted that defense and security cooperation between Zambia and the U.S. continues to grow annually, pointing to training opportunities for Zambian military personnel in the United States.
Mwenda also expressed appreciation for the multi-million-dollar infrastructure recently handed over by the American government at the Kenneth Kaunda Peace Training Center in Lusaka.- Zambia Reports
