UNITED STATES KEEPS ITS EMBASSY IN KYIV DESPITE MOSCOW’S THREATS
The United States has made no decision to withdraw its diplomatic personnel from Kyiv despite Russia warning foreign embassies to leave the Ukrainian capital.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio made clear that Moscow will not determine where American diplomats can operate
“We have an embassy presence there, and we’ll make the determination about whether it’s safe for them to be there or not,” Rubio told reporters.
He noted that Russia has been issuing similar warnings for months and that the danger posed by continuing attacks against Kyiv is already well understood.
The United States assesses the security of every diplomatic mission daily and would change its posture if necessary—but it has not done so in Kyiv.
