UPND ANTI-POOR …HH politics out of touch
with reality – Silavwe

By Fanny Kalonda

GOLDEN Party of Zambia president Jackson Silavwe says the new dawn government is turning out to be the most anti-poor and pro-foreign monopoly capital government Zambia has ever had since independence.

Commenting on the recent fuel increment announced by the Energy Regulation Board, Silavwe said the government’s economics seems to burying both the poor and local businesses in the grave of very high cost of living and doing business.

The ERB has adjusted upwards the pump prices of petroleum products by K1.80 per litre for petrol, K2.37 per litre for diesel and K2.51 per litre for kerosene.

ERB board chairperson Reynolds Bowa announced at a briefing on Thursday that the adjustment in the pump prices was due to the unprecedented increase in the price of petroleum products on the international market.

Bowa said the recorded increase in international oil prices was mainly attributed to the global oil demand and supply imbalance caused by a combination of factors such as the continued geopolitical tension in Ukraine and Russia and increased oil demand worldwide.

“The new dawn government is turning out to be the most anti-poor and pro-foreign monopoly capital government Zambia has ever had since independence. This month’s insensitive fuel increase is testament to that position,” Silavwe said.

He charged that President Hichilema’s economics is out of touch with the reality on the ground.

Silavwe said the government’s economics seems to favour the foreign monopoly capital operating in Zambia than majority poor Zambians.

“Under the new dawn ‘normal’, small and medium local businesses will continue to be punished with every monthly price review and the majority poor Zambians will continue to face off with high higher poverty levels. New dawn government must be lifting the poor out of poverty not burying them in it. The new dawn economics seems to burying both the poor and local businesses in the grave of very high cost of living and doing business,” said Silavwe. “President Hichilema’s economics is out of touch with the reality on the ground. It is un-relatable to the common man in our communities. President HH should come down to the Zambian earth now before it’s too late for him if he really cares about his people. Once again, we call on the new dawn administration to initiate local intervention measures to protect the poor and local businesses.”

  1. We heard you ba Silavwe except you did not elaborate how you would manage the situation differently if you were in plot 1 shoes!
At least that is what would score you political points to be considered an alternative.
Anything contrary to that level of analysis becomes noise!

  2. Silavwe. Handsome guy without any substance. A lot of these bendiots are parroting the Sata demagoguery= make all the noise, all the time.

  3. Name one African country where food and fuel prices gas not increased. Even in the so called developed countries fuel and food prices have gone up and keep going up. This is why you snd your party have not grown beyond your family household. Nothing to offer the public but be a social media critic.

  4. Call Silavwe names all you want, fact remains that we were conned about nonexistent “middlemen” that were making our fuel expensive. HH lied to the masses like he had a magic wand to bring down the dollar hours after entering office (“10:00 inauguration, by 14:00”, as it were)…you’ve seen the videos and you’re not fooling anyone.

  5. Fuel and food prices have increased globally, meaning in each and every country of the world, except a handful like Saudi Arabia and gulf states. The reason behind this inflation is recent global economic dynamics including Ukraine war etc. Now we a have fools and non-patriots like Silavwe thinking this is bcoz of HH. Truly sickening. Think of Solutions not just throwing stones dummy.

  6. You read something somewhere in some book in the last century and you cut and paste and put it in your article. Analyze issues first. Don’t talk
Just because you have the freedom to
    speak.

  7. This foolish chap with his ka brief case party without even a councillor is just too dull to understand politics let alone economics. It is a waste of time trying to educate him, he is too thick to absorb anything.
Remember his ka brief case party was in the PF Alliance – the idyot was living on PF handouts. So anything he says doesnt make sense and is out of envy and jealous!
