UPND INFLICTING MORE PAIN THAN PF, CALLER ELVIS TELLS KAUNDA

…..as SP Chairperson for Youth and Security says his party will lead the nation on the terms of citizens when in power

LUSAKA, Wednesday, June 8, 2022 (Smart Eagles)

SOCIALIST Party (SP) National Chairperson for Youth and Security Kelvin Kaunda has heard the cries of citizens regarding how the UPND is running the affairs of the country.

Mr Kaunda, who featured on 5FM’s “Burning Issue” yesterday, heard from Elvis during the phone in segment that the UPND government lied its way into power.

He reminded Zambians that UPND lied about ministers not driving VXs as promised prior to last year’s elections.

The caller bemoaned the escalated cost of living under the watch of the New Dawn Administration.

“You see Mr Kaunda; you are speaking very well. Let no one dictate to you how to speak to this government. I heard someone saying you are dealing with an enlightened voter; we are very enlightened this time. We are not going to deal with lies this time,” he said.

“…they lied when they are in opposition in order to come into government. They told us they will not be driving VXs when they come into power, they said they will be driving Vitz. Today they are driving new ama motoka, ama VXm ama Nissan Patrol….”

Elvis accused UPND of inflicting more pain than the PF on citizens.

He added that the Soialist Party is a force to reckon with as he stressed the need for a strong voice “like yours, the strong voice of Dr Fred M’membe, the strong voice of the opposition.”

“This is the government which has become so intolerant to views, especially divergent views. Praise singers want you to say good things when you are experiencing bad things in this government. Today the socialist party is the force to reckon with…This government has even failed to provide clean water in my area.”

In response, Mr Kaunda said SP will lead the country on the terms of the citizens.

“We will lead the country on the terms of our people, not our terms. If we are going to borrow, we should be able to tell our people that these are the conditions which have been prescribed. Let’s get the critical voice of our people involved as we make some of these decisions because they affect our people at the end of the day,” he said.

“From where we stand, the foreign investors cannot resolve our challenges….it is we ourselves, and the earlier we begin to appreciate that fact the better for all of us. The IMF program, it is not the first time, we tried it. Will it change the narrative now? No! you may change the DJ but the music is the same.”
