We won’t accept last-minute defectors to stand in 2026 – UPND
COPPERBELT Province Minister Elisha Matambo says the UPND will not tolerate any aspiring candidate who joins the party at the last minute in order to contest in the 2026 general elections.
Addressing party members, Matambo said Copperbelt Province was ready for the battle and had already declared President Hakainde Hichilema as the sole candidate for next year’s general elections. Matambo added that the 2026 elections would separate boys from men.
“We’re set and we’re ready for this battle. I know that 2026 is a separation of boys from men. As a province, we have already declared President Hakainde as our sole candidate for the coming elections. They say you will know them by their fruits. He has done a lot.
Indeed let it be a closed shop. The only assured seat for the UPND on the Copperbelt is Mpongwe.
If my name sake thinks the Copperbelt will be roses for the UPND, he will be shocked.
Very few are talking about UPND candidates on the Copperbelt.. The present UPND ‘honorables ‘ move around townships
trying to distribute Chitenges, and no one bothers about them. UPND branded vehicles are viewed with ‘scorn’ and no one, absolutely no one responds to their hooting or greetings.
You can see the discomfort and embarrassment of UPND Members when dressed in party regalia at public events.
I really feel for these people. Your party is in government, but you feel uncomfortable and embarrassed to dress in your party regalia… Why???
And then you think you will win the Seats on the Copperbelt !
