UPND YOUTHS DEMAND PETAUKE MP’S BLOCKAGE FROM PARLIAMENT OVER BROTHER’S ALLEGED THREATS

United Party for National Development UPND, in Eastern Province has called on party youths in Lusaka Province to ensure Petauke Central Member of Parliament Yaliwe Banda is restrained from attending parliamentary duties until she apologises over the alleged conduct of her brother, Emmanuel Jay Banda.

Speaking during a media briefing this morning, Provincial Youth Chairperson Lyson Nyirenda and his Vice, Cephas Mandauka, said Ms. Banda’s silence over her brother’s alleged threats against President Hakainde Hichilema raises questions about her position on the matter.

Mr. Nyirenda argued that Ms. Banda’s failure to publicly address the alleged threats could be interpreted as support for her brother’s statements.

He said the party was also concerned about what he described as the silence of the Banda family, traditional leadership in Petauke and the church over the matter.

Mr. Nyirenda further criticised the church, claiming that it had lost its value in Zambia.

He said politicians would therefore take it upon themselves to address the matter in the absence of what he considers meaningful intervention from the church and other institutions.

The UPND provincial youth leadership has since urged party youths in Lusaka Province to ensure that Ms. Banda does not attend parliamentary duties until she issues an apology over the matter.

  1. That’s lawlessness.. Leave the MP alone. She is NOT part of her brother’s action.
Those so called CADRES shouldn’t dictate on state matters.

  2. True wisdom comes from above and we can find that wisdom in the Bible. Each soul will die for its own sins, the Bible says; the fathers will not suffer or die for their children’s sins and the children will not suffer or die for their fathers’ sins. So the Petauke MP is innocent, she can not suffer for her brother’s sins. Let her enter Parliament and begin doing her job. Let her commit her own sins if she will and those are the sins she will die for if she won’t get any forgiveness from the Lord. JJ Banda will also suffer and die for his own sins and not for the sister. But time for him to repent is now, tomorrow may be too late. This is the work the Clergy are neglecting or forgetting because they have gone deep into politics leaving the flock to the mercies of the devil. Jesus gave them an assignment to feed his sheep and not politicians. Whenever you see a brother going astray, it’s our duty as Clergy to help that person and bring him back into the fold. God needs people who will rebuke sin regardless of the person committing it, unfortunately we even clap for someone whom we see sinning against brother and God. We are spoiling our country which we claim is a Christian nation. There is no need to have a Christian nation only by name. Right now some people including some Clergy are talking the loudest about the merging of the national day of prayer to a declaration day of Zambia as a Christian nation. What do we hope to achieve on 18th October and yet we can not voice or condemn the evils that are happening in the country. Remember what the Prophet Isaiah said; these are the people who worship me by their lips but their hearts are far from me. God doesn’t like and accept lip service. Let’s try and help people like JJ Banda, let them stop what they are doing, Jesus loves them, he died for them and wants them to live with him in his kingdom.
