UPP fully supports law enforcement agencies to investigate, arrest and prosecute all suspected criminals who looted public resources in the name of “UUBOMBA MWIBALA ALYA MWIBALA” (he/she who works in the field eats in the field) mentality. There is nothing special about an election year when it comes to arresting thieves.
The former IMF Director, Dominique Strauss-Kahn, was the front runner for president of France, but he was arrested in an election year and got knocked off the presidential race. Thieves can even be arrested on the day of filling nominations.
There is nothing like bad timing to bring thieves to book. Some of the difficulties our country is facing today are due to the massive looting under the brutal PF regime. #WeRemember! We shall never forget and we shall never forgive them.
It can never be business usual. It’s time to end the culture of celebrating thieves in political spaces.
Yes, we must be uncompromising in our efforts to rid ourselves of this scourge of thieving “leaders”. People whose only interest in public office is to loot the treasury.
However, I dont support the unleashing of the LEAs on those alleged looters who are perceived as a threat to the sitting government. It means those thieves who keep a low profile will be allowed to get away and enjoy their ill-gotten wealth. All “uubomba mwibala alya mwibala” looters must be roped in and the stolen loot recovered and the looters sent to prison.
Politics has become the most lucrative career and everybody wants to jump on the looters train because their are no serious adverse consequences for looting government coffers.
