US Representative, Gregory Weldon Meeks, Demands Zambian Government Releases True Results of Zambia’s August 13 Elections

● Release true Results, release polling station results of Zambia’s Election

● Allow legal challenge of the election results and dispute



“I am deeply concerned by reports of election irregularities in Zambia, including the jailing of opposition politicians and efforts to stifle dissent.”



“Secretary Rubio must call on President Hichilema to release the electoral results from Zambia’s polling stations, investigate the fatal shooting of former minister Mutotwe Kafwaya, and allow the courts to hear legal challenges to the electoral results”.



“A firm response from the United States in support of Zambia’s democracy and democratic gains is vital, especially in light of  upcoming elections in Angola, Kenya, and Nigeria.”

Gregory Weldon Meeks is a U.S. Representative for New York’s 5th congressional district.



He is a member of the Democratic Party, he has been in Congress since 1998.

He is a highly influential figure in international policy and currently serves as the Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
