US signs deal to expand Patriot, THAAD component production – Reuters
The US War Department signed a framework agreement with Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman to expand production capacity for components used in Patriot PAC-3 and THAAD missile interceptor systems, Reuters reported Monday, as the Iran and Ukraine wars strain US weapons stockpiles.
The Pentagon said the deal would allow Patriot production to triple and THAAD output to quadruple.
The agreement would also establish a second source for PAC-3 solid rocket motors and increase production of ignition safety devices. The department did not disclose the value of the deal.
