USE OF LUNGU’S VIDEOS IN CAMPAIGNS MORALLY WRONG, SUMAILI ADVISES TOONSE

Former Minister of National Guidance and Religious Affairs Godfridah Sumaili has advised the Toonse Pamodzi Alliance presidential team against using the late former President Edgar Chagwa Lungu’s videos in their campaigns.

Ms. Sumaili says it is morally wrong for the living to continue using the deceased for campaign purposes.

Yesterday, Toonse Pamodzi Alliance running mate Makebi Zulu played a video of Edgar Chagwa Lungu during a campaign rally.

However, the Reverend is said to be unhappy with the move, arguing that the former Head of State has not yet been buried and should be treated with dignity.

She says there must be respect accorded to the late former President.

“We can’t continue using the deceased to campaign for us in these elections. The move to start using the former President’s videos to campaign will backfire on us because of the controversy surrounding his burial,” she said.»

“If we continue using him in our campaigns, Zambians will hate us and we will damage this movement. Let us leave the President alone and focus on our campaigns,” she added.»

  1. Edgar Lungu served as President of Zambia and he surely said those words. In well-equipped schools, videos are very much part of the learning/teaching process. Some people who feature in the videos are dead. Television news broadcasts sometimes do show episodes from the distant past. Edgar Lungu was a public figure and many things he said are publicly available and are part of Zambia’s history. I do not think that the estimable Rev Godfridah Sumaili has a point.

    • The examples you have given cannot be compared to the Lungu situation,Rev Sumaili is on point. The former president is still lying in the mortuary for goodness sake.It is as good as you start sharing the person’s property before burial takes place.
What happened at the rally is traditionally, spiritual and morally wrong.

  2. The product of truly sick minds. The custodian of the body exploiting it to full.

How can we entrust our country to such morally bankrupt individuals? What kind of family are the Lungus to allow such base behaviour by the family spokesman?

They were handed the body by the South African court. Why have they not buried?

    Strange people indeed!!

  3. These are sick people, no message for the country. I will vote for a message which takes the country forward, not who has the corpse.

  4. This is just unbelievable!!Makebi Zulu is indeed,a MALUKULA.This man has a spirit of death around him.And to learn that the Lungu family can allow such desecration points to a man who was only loved for his stolen money

Zambian’s, please, don’t put these evil men and women in a position to rule us.We will be sacrificed in so many ways than one!
