WE FOUND CYBER LAW AND ONLY ADDED A FEW THINGS TO IT – UPND
UPND member Chipoka Mulenga has claimed that the Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes law was originally introduced by the former Patriotic Front (PF) government, arguing that the UPND administration only added a few elements to it.
Many Zambian citizens today fear to express themselves on their favorite social media platforms adding that they have no lawyers.
Speaking on the matter, Mulenga accused opposition figure Makebi Zulu of misleading the public by alleging that the UPND government was solely responsible for the law.
He maintained that the foundation of the legislation was laid during the PF administration before the current government introduced what he described as “a few additional provisions.”
The Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes law has generated significant public debate, with many social media users commenting only with “I don’t have a lawyer” to mean fear of prosecution.
Critics argue that the law could be used to prosecute individuals over certain online activities, while the government has maintained that the legislation is intended to combat cybercrime and enhance national security.
