Newly elected UPND Kafue West MP, Hon. Obvious Mwaliteta has extended the message of unity and support for president President Hakainde Hichilema to the Catholic Church inorder for him to implement the agenda of economic growth in the country.
At a press briefing, Mr. Mwaliteta candidly condemned what he termed as ‘Church politics’ being conducted behind pulpits, especially by churches in Lusaka province.
“I want to extend this message to the Catholic church, swallow your pride and congratulate president Hichilema. I’m sure you have seen that the president means well for this country, there is no need to fight him anymore.”
The law maker has urged the Catholic church to direct their energy to preaching the word of God rather than talking about the president. He further disclosed that the ruling party has proof that the church hates President Hichilema.
“If you have nothing to say or you hate him naturally, don’t talk about him just preach the word of God”, he said.
“We have proved and we can prove that you don’t like him so just go and preach the word of God to the poor who are thirsty for the word”, he added
President Hakainde Hichilema was yesterday sworn into office for the second time till 2031 and has since launched the ‘Grow Zambia’ agenda.

Kudos to you Mr. Mwaliteta for bluntness and honesty on addressing the hateful against the president especially the self serving leadership in the Catholic church! At times respect for the church leaderships has exaggerated esteem not deserved and are using the cloak to hide disdain for national leadership and using their congregants as the force driving the hate! Good for you Mr Mwaliteta! The same warped minded amongst the Catholic church leaders had tolerated Hitler’s influence and supported his actions leading to the church’s denial of a seat in the united nations assembly then! It’s brave and honest at times to put aside diplomacy and confront in direct terms and street understood language to address the undeniable issue that is in the open! They can hate HH all they like but not forget that its among their church flock that gave HH the vote! Maybe the hate arises from differences between Catholics and SDA principles and HH is an SDA elder! If this is partly so, then keep it in both your church premises and let it not interfere with how HH and his team serve the people of Zambia! Thank you Mr.Mwaliteta!
