RESOLUTIONS OF THE TONSE ALLIANCE COUNCIL OF LEADERS (CoL) MEETING HELD ON FRIDAY, 8TH NOVEMBER 2024 AT CREST LODGE IN LUSAKA
The meeting was called to order by the Alliance Chairperson at 11 hrs and it adjourned sine die at 14hrs. All were in attendance and there were no absences or apologies. The following was resolved:
1. That all members of the TONSE ALLIANCE should focus on growing the Alliance by inviting new members who share the aspirations, expectations and zeal of the Alliance to form Government in 2026, and emancipate the Zambian people from their current suffering. In this regard, a Task Team has been constituted with the sole responsibility of identifying, approaching and inviting new members to the TONSE ALLIANCE.
2. That the Alliance should adopt the three-person team that organized the TONSE ALLIANCE launch, consisting of the Alliance Spokesperson Mr. Sean Tembo, Hon. Silvia Chalikosa and Dr. Chris Zumani Zimba to constitute a standing Organizing Committee that should organize all future events of the Alliance. To this end, the Organizing Standing Committee met after the CoL meeting and identified a total of 12 mobilization events that the TONSE ALLIANCE will undertake between now and 31st December 2024, across the country. The first Alliance mobilization event will be undertaken tomorrow, Saturday, 9th November 2024.
3. That the TONSE ALLIANCE has noted with regret the vicious attacks coming from some of our brothers and sisters in the United Kwacha Alliance (UKA). The TONSE ALLIANCE has resolved that it should not respond to any of these vicious attacks because our battle is not with anyone in opposition, but with the ruling UPND party and it’s incompetent Government. The TONSE ALLIANCE has further resolved to ensure that we engage with our brothers and sisters in UKA with respect at all material times so that we can begin to create the necessary conducive atmosphere which would create the possibility of incorporating our brothers and sisters in UKA into the TONSE ALLIANCE in future, because the Zambian people want a united opposition as we approach the 2026 general elections.
4. That the TONSE ALLIANCE Media and Publicity Committee should come up with a Communication Matrix which will ensure consistent messaging to the masses by adopting a common position on all key domestic as well as international issues. This is intended to ensure that whichever Alliance member speaks, the message will be consistent with the position of the Alliance in order to avoid contradiction on key issues among Alliance Members.
5. That the TONSE ALLIANCE should appoint Ambassador Emmanuel Mwamba as the Alliance Deputy Spokesperson as well as Deputy Chairperson of the Alliance Media and Publicity Committee. The Alliance has further resolved that the Alliance Spokesperson together with his Deputy should immediately constitute a fully fledged media team at all levels, as well as a budget, which will ensure that the Alliance activities and plans for the Zambian people, are adequately and effectively communicated to the masses at all times.
With no other business to discuss, the TONSE ALLIANCE Council of Leaders (CoL) meeting was adjourned sine die.
