WHAT HAS BECOME OF SOME CATHOLIC PRIESTS?
As humans, it would be folly for us to expect to be loved by everyone in society as though we were money! It is therefore normal to have an adversary or enemy here and there.
However, it is sickening and shocking for a man of the cloth, a Catholic priest for that matter, to take to social media to disparage or express his aversion towards others, Frank Bwalya in particular, a former Catholic priest!
As many of us know, he resigned from the PF, which has since transitioned into Tonse, to join the ruling party, UPND, after the elections. The gentleman was almost in tears as he recounted the reasons for calling for a press briefing in Kitwe.
“I have for a long time tolerated insults and abuse over my 15-year political career. But I can no longer ignore these actions, especially because they involve my family,” cried Bwalya. “I have a family and a personal reputation to protect, hence the reason I have made this difficult decision to sue and report the young priest to the police.”
He went on to reveal that Father Henry Tyola, an assistant priest at St Joseph Mukasa Parish in Kwacha, Bulangililo, Kitwe, has allegedly been posting malicious statements claiming that he is mad and that mental illness runs in his family!
“I had tried to engage the priest privately, despite having messages on my phone in which the priest was allegedly insulting me. I have spoken to at least three priests to restrain the said priest from posting malicious statements,” lamented Bwalya.
Shockingly, Bwalya’s entire family, including his ageing mother, belongs to the same congregation as the said priest. His biological brother even plays the guitar in the church choir!
What SIN has Bwalya committed for him to deserve to continue to be ‘baptised’ in insults or calumny? Is it because he chose to join the ruling party? Does such a decision constitute madness, honestly?
What has become of some of these Catholic priests? While some can be seen shamelessly propping up certain opposition political parties, others are having a field day insulting and scandalising innocent victims! One of them was even suggesting rigging in favour of the former ruling party
Aikona, man!
Father Tyola had no right whatsoever to take pleasure in defaming, maligning, scandalising or humiliating Bwalya or his entire family. Does he think he is above the law?
During the days of expatriate priests such as Father Umberto, we never saw priests becoming so personal or championing the cause of the opposition. They remained above board and genuinely spoke for the poor.
We conclude by encouraging Bwalya to please go ahead and sue the said priest for defamation and equally report him to the police for cyberbullying.
Until next time!
