WHAT WOULD YOU ASK HIM AT TODAY’S PRESS CONFERENCE?

By Amb. Emmanuel Mwamba

1. You said in 2021 that Mopani and KCM will be resolved soon. “Soon” has been two years. When will you truly resolve the KCM and Mopani issue.

2. You have been fighting corruption related to the previous government. But what about the Corruption in your government? Why do you punish whistle-blower and victims but protect Ministers and others?

3. Inefficiency, bureaucracy, ineptitude and failure characteristics service delivery in your Government, will you make changes? When will you stop blaming civil servants and the Patriotic Front for this and ensure that the job is done and service is delivered?

4. High-cost of living, high mealie-meal and fuel prices, what are you doing about this?

5. FRA sold and exported almost all national strategic reserves. Currently FRA has 246,000metric tonnes(one month supply) to the point of food insecurity. FRA is beginning to buy maize at K280 per 50kg from K180 last year. This is good news for the farmers but challenging for all Zambians that may have to pay higher mealie-meal prices.

What’s your Government doing to mitigate this inevitable price increase? Why have you excluded the FRA to purchase Soya Beans yet it was budgeted for?

6. You have taken 35 international trips. Isn’t this too much for such a short period? Of what benefit are these trips involving Inaugurations, Royal Installations, Expos and State visits?

7. Why has it taken you 35 international trips to realize that you needed to go to China to help resolve the debt restructuring programme?

8. Why is it difficult for you to treat the former President well and in accordance with the law? Why are you fighting him?

9. In light of the deep-seated economic crisis, huge foreign and local debts, and delays in the IMF Bail-out, do you have an alternative economic programmme beyond the IMF? Would you consider holding an Economic and Consultative Indaba of stakeholders.

10. Brenthurst Foundation and Tony Blair Institute for Global Affairs at State House! Really? You cannot trust, rely and use qualified local staff? Kindly explain.

And the cost incurred in travel, security outlay, and recent upgrade in power, road and other infrastructure at or near your house because of your continued stay at your private residence named Community House, when will you shift to the designated and official residence of Zambia’s Presidents- State House?
